A floor-rising screen is one of the cleanest ways to get a very large image into a normal room: the screen stores in a long low housing, rises for viewing and disappears afterward.
How a floor-rising screen works
The viewing surface rolls into a base enclosure instead of dropping from the ceiling. When activated, a motor raises the screen while a tension/support system keeps the surface upright. That makes the format attractive when you cannot or do not want to wall-mount a fixed frame or cut into a ceiling.
The real benefits
- No permanent screen rectangle: the room can return to normal when the screen is lowered.
- No ceiling cassette: useful for renters, concrete ceilings or rooms where overhead installation is awkward.
- Furniture integration: some users place the housing on a console or integrate it into a laser-TV cabinet.

The trade-offs
The base is long, heavy and visible. You also introduce a motor, moving support structure and retractable fabric where a fixed frame has almost no mechanical complexity. If the room already has a dedicated wall and you never need the screen to disappear, fixed frame remains the simpler format.
What to measure
Measure total housing length, not just the visible image. Confirm power location, maximum rise height, any furniture lip that could obstruct the screen, and the UST projector's exact lens-to-screen geometry. For large sizes, check the delivery path before you place the order.
